About

The world is heating up but there is something really cool in development; Electric Autosport. Consumers have been demanding a radical new approach to emissions produced by their cars. The car industry has been hesitant to produce truly zero emission cars but the rules of the game have changed. A sports car like the Tesla Roadster has redefined what is possible with electric vehicles and now the entire industry is getting excited about the new possibilities.

Something similar is happening on the race track. It is thought by many that racing can never do without the roar of the internal combustion engine, that audiences will not take to it. At the other end of the spectrum there has been a rise of, indeed not very exciting, eco-efficiency races. But a new discipline of racing is emerging and that is electric racing. There are many prototypes being developed, supercars being built, records broken and the first races are taking place.

These developments calls for a website that brings you the news and background stories about what is happening on the electric race track. ElectricAutosport.com will keep you up to date with the latest prototypes that are being released, news about the different emerging race series, tech news that could be relevant for autosport and opinion pieces analysing and placing the news in a broader context.

For many years now I’ve been convinced of the pulling power that zero emission racing has to draw in a new audience to get excited about super clean cars. I was one of the crazy ones that was ahead of the curve when we established Formula Zero, a race class for hydrogen electric vehicles, but now a trend with electric racing is clearly and visibly emerging. We will provide reports and analysis of these trends as we see them happen.

Grown up and still working in the heart of the Dutch racing industry, I found my passion for sustainable motorsports by joining world’s first competition for hydrogen electric vehicles in 2008. I do not doubt on the possibility of a break through of electric racing. And that deserves a platform to keep up to date and to interact. Let’s get electrified!
