The venue of the FIA Formula E Championship in Punta del Este, Uruguay, might be in danger. The full-electric racing series is scheduled to visit the beach resort in December 2014, but bureaucratic procedures in the city of Maldonado could cause a delay, local media Punta del Este News reports.

When these speculations are true, it would not be the first time that a (possible) venue would be replaced or cancelled. Before the official calendar was released, the candidate city Hong Kong was likely to host a race. But due to hassle about paperwork and track lay-out issues, the event was replaced by Rio de Janeiro.

However, with over ten months to go, there is still plenty of time to get the paperwork done. The temporary street circuit in Punta del Este is likely to be build at ‘Parada 2’, a three-lane motorway located at the South-East side of the city.
