Indian car manufacturer Mahindra has shown its ambition towards electric mobility at the Auto Expo 2014. Its EV devision, Mahindra Reva, has unveiled the Mahindra Halo, a two-seater concept electric sports car alongside the vehicle that will participate in the FIA Formula E Championship.

The Halo has been developed by an in-house design team consisting of designers from Pininfarina and Bertone. The car looks smooth and compact and is powered by an electric motor developing approximately 140 bhp. Halo sprints from 0-100 km/h in less than seven seconds, its top-speed is restricted to 160 km/h and has a range of 200 kilometres. It will be available in India and in international markets in 2015 or 2016.

Besides the two eye-catchers, Mahindra also displayed the Mahindra Verito and an updated version of the Mahindra e20 electric city car which comes available with a new feature for faster charging. The international ambitions of Mahindra’s electric car devision will probably benefit from its participation in the new fully-electric FIA Formula E Championship.
