The 92nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb competition features seven competitors in the electric division. Once again Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima will be favourite to sharpen his record of completing the 12.42 mile course under the exciting time of 9 minutes and 46.530 seconds.

The electric division has been divided into two subcategories for the first time: electric modified and the electric production class. In this last named division, Roy Richard will compete with the Honda Fit EV and Steve Wickham will drive the Toyota RAV4 EV uphill. More interestingly, the fastest five cars will challenge to set a time under ten minutes.

Tajima will face fierce competition in the electric modified division. Despite the Japanese Pikes Peak veteran has only four rivals, much is to expect from Hiroshi Masuoka and Greg Tracy, both driving a purpose built Mitsubishi MiEV Evo III. Ikuo Hanawa gets behind the wheel of the Summit HER-02, attempting the beat the time of his countryman. Janis Horeliks, who competed with the eO PPO1 last year (and unfortunately crashed out of the race), will now drive a Tesla Roadster 360 uphill. Toyota Motorsport seems to be absent in this year’s running.
