With Long Beach just days away, Formula E teams have taken April 1st in their stride and have come up with a number of April Fools jokes to try and catch out electric fans across the globe. Let’s take a look at the best ones created so far.
Antonio Felix da Costa’s footballing ‘knee injury’
Antonio Felix da Costa worried fans when he delivered news on social media this morning that he will not be racing in Long Beach this weekend, due to an operation on his knee following an injury received whilst playing football. Amlin Aguri soon took to twitter to confirm that the Portuguese star would miss the next ePrix, asking for local advice on any fast drivers to be his replacement. Nice try, Antonio.
Mahindra turn to solar power for season two
Today Mahindra announced some ground-breaking news for season two of the FIA Formula E Championship – that the team will be switching to solar powered technology next season. According to their website, a new solar panel battery would be used during races in the hope of producing a winning car. The plan even consists of a fragile solar panel that will rest on top of Karun Chandhok and Bruno Senna’s helmets! Something certainly seems amiss at Mahindra, although the proposed all gold livery is striking.
