Solar Team Eindhoven recently presented its solar car that generates more power than it uses to the world. It’s the successor of Stella, the solar-powered family car that won the 2013 World Solar Challenge. This documentary tells the story of 20 young students doing everything they can to make their dream come true. It begins with the exciting first idea’s and ends with the mighty World Solar Challenge: a 3000-kilometre journey through Australia.
Solar Team Eindhoven has participated in the ‘Cruiser’ class of the latest edition with its own solar-powered family car. This class is judged not only by its speed but by the number of occupants, the energy consumption and ease of use. The world’s first family car powered by the sun is a statement of a shift from just fast to user- friendly, comfortable solar-powered cars.
Solar Team Eindhoven shows that driving on solar energy is no far-fetched dream but a viable option for practical, everyday use.
The team consists of approximately 20 students that spend a whole year full- time working on the project. They built a car that combines practicality and comfort with extremely efficient technology.
