1111 Solar Team Eindhoven presents vehicle that generates more power than it uses
The Solar Team Eindhoven (STE) student team from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) presented its new solar-powered car in July. Stella Lux is an intelligent, solar-powered family car that generates more power than it uses. The car has a range of at least 1,000 km in the Netherlands, with enough space for four people. It competed in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in October and won the event in its class for the second consecutive time.

Rimac Automobili announced in March that it supplies the world’s most power-dense battery-system and other systems for the Koenigsegg Regera – the world’s most powerful production car. Rimac managed to develop a 9,27 kWh battery-pack consisting of over 3.000 individual parts that is able to deliver 4,35 kW per kilogram in a package that weighs 115 kg and takes only 67 liters of volume in the center of the vehicle.

Drive eO was one of the teams to attack the existing record in the electric division of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb last year. The 1020 kW (1367 hp) electric race car called PP03 was be piloted by former winner and record holder Rhys Millen and in April it was spotted on the track for the very first time.

Team APEV with MONSTER SPORT, led by the racing legend Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima, teamed up with Rimac Automobili and created a 1.1 megawatt race car, the Tajima Rimac E-Runner Concept_One. It would challenge Rhys Millen competing with the one megawatt Drive eO PP03 in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

ElectricAutosport.com revealed in July that Williams Advanced Engineering and Rimac Automobili were one of the candidate battery suppliers for Formula E, along with Renovo Motors we also revealed. In the end Formula E and its teams chose to go along with the Williams power unit a little longer. One thing is for sure: more battery suppliers are ready to rock the world of electric racing.

Drive eO announced the arrival of eO PP03, world’s first one megawatt all-electric race car in April. Designed and built in Latvia, the 1020 kW (1368 hp) powerful vehicle was being prepared to compete at the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the United States of America on June 28, 2015. Which they in the end won. A brilliant achievement.
