Mahindra Racing has reached out to the fans to design a circuit in Delhi after the Formula E team received support from the Delhi Government, pledging their support for an ePrix.
Following the success of Mahindra Racing’s recent visit to India in which the M2Electro Formula E car took to the track for some laps of the famous Buddh International Circuit, the dream of a home race for the team may soon be a reality. Mahindra Racing has received a letter of intent from the Delhi Government pledging their support for an ePrix in the city of Delhi and the race is on to design a circuit.
Mahindra Racing Team Principal Dilbagh Gill has invited fans to submit ideas for a Formula E race track in Delhi, India. “We are looking for a track of approximately two to three kilometers long, with 8 to 12 turns and space for a pit lane and our garages. We are inviting fans to comment on Facebook and Twitter with their ideas. It can be a sketch, a map, a photo or simply a piece of writing but we want to accelerate this project and get the race to India. We have also reserved some exciting prizes for our favourite ideas so I am looking forward to see what all the Mahindrians out there come up with.”
Work on a possible Indian ePrix has been an ongoing process for several years and Delhi Government supporting Mahindra’s efforts seems another step. However it can take some time before Formula E hits the country as the series is looking to expand in many directions including Australia and Africa.
