Ahead of the London ePrix finale, Team Aguri has announced that it agreed the sale of its license to new investors group Chinese Media Capital.
The outfit was the sixth of 10 founding teams to join the FIA Formula E Championship, having been created by Aguri Suzuki and Mark Preston in November 2013.
Team Aguri quickly got up to speed in the all-electric racing series, securing their maiden win in only the fourth round of the inaugural Formula E season. The team ended the 2014/15 Season in seventh place, with a total of 66 points.
Last season went with ups and downs, with driver Antonio Felix da Costa as one of the few stable factors in the team.
Mark Preston, Team Principal of Team Aguri, commented: “I am proud to say that Team Aguri can be considered true pioneers in the development of electric vehicles, pioneering new technologies and showcasing them to the world.”
“While this is the final chapter in Team Aguri’s history in the FIA Formula E Championship, this also represents the start of something new, with the sale of the team to new investors. As such, this will be the final race for Team Aguri and I would like to thank all involved for their hard work and dedication over the past two seasons.”
Team Aguri currently lies in eighth position in the Constructors Championship, on 24 points, with the final two rounds remaining.
