Following the news that Audi terminates its successful LMP1 project in favour of shifting its focus to Formula E, the German car manufacturer also mentioned that it evaluates another electric programme.

Besides Formula E, Audi will stay in DTM but no final decision has been made concerning a future involvement in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Last season, DTM factory driver Mattias Ekström in his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro clinched the World Championship title early, competing against numerous factory teams. Up to now, Audi’s involvement has been limited to supporting the private EKS team.

The brand is currently evaluating a possible extension of the World RX commitment, stating that ‘the exciting topic of electrification is being on the agenda in rallycross racing as well’.

The format of rallycross probably suits electric vehicles thanks to its relatively short sessions.

On Wednesday STARD launched its prototype electric rally monster.

He does not doubt on the possibility of a break through of electric racing. And that deserves a platform to keep up to date and to interact. Tim operates on behalf of Formula Blue Media.
