In season 5, the FIA Formula E Championship will be accompanied by a support series. The one-make Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday.

It coincided with the launch of the I-PACE, the first all-electric vehicle of Jaguar Land Rover which will be on the market in the second half of 2018 when the I-PACE eTrophy will start.

Little details are known, but it is believed that the calendar will hold ten rounds. Maximum of 20 drivers will take part in a race weekend that consists of a practice session, qualifying and a 30-minute race. The cars will be run by Jaguar Racing, the same firm that operates the Jaguar Formula E Team.

The car manufacturer said that the I-PACE championship reinforces its commitment to electrification and that it wants to prove the electrification technologies on the track. In the end it must enhance the development for future electric vehicles for customers.
